Our Mission
SFV 2nd Chance Scholarship Foundation's mission is to provide financial and social support to various communities and incarcerated people achieve and maintain their educational and personal goals. SFV 2nd Chance Scholarship Foundation provides support by helping people pursue a higher education or providing them with life skills and the proper resources to overcome any barriers. SFV 2nd Chance Scholarship Foundation has been in existence for over five years and collaborates with other community based organizations.
About
Our communities/ Barrios have a variety of obstacles that prevent their residents from pursuing a higher education, at times it could be lack of income, limited opportunities, injustice, and many other things. Despite all of those obstacles, we decided to help our communities / Barrios out by helping them pursue a higher education or provide them with life skills and the proper resources to overcome any barriers.
Most of our members come from these communities/Barrios and are still doing what ever it takes to improve our communities/Barrios. Most of us have experienced injustice due to our personal backgrounds and life style. Which is why we established this foundation (SFV 2nd Chance Scholarship Foundation) in 2009.We believe that with the proper tools and education we will make our communities/Barrios better, not only for ourselves but for our future generations.
Our foundation has provided over 50 scholarships through out the last years and recently have added a new scholarship category for people incarcerated. We have various scholarship categories such as :
Our foundation doesn’t only provide scholarships but social services as well. We have done youth conferences, provided clothing and food baskets to our communities, and also resources to help them overcome barriers they might be facing.
We are always willing to collaborate with other organization and provide them with our services. Which are but not limited to the following:

- SFV 2nd Chance Scholarship: Open for anyone that is trying to further their educational goals from ESL classes, GED classes to Masters or Phd's.
- Ernesto Bustillos: Open for student organizers, making positive changes in the community.
- Juarez Empowerment: Open for people that are incarcerated and are trying to educate themselves and create self empowerment.

- Employment Training Workshops(ex. Facilitating workshops on : How to do a resume, How to fill out an application, How to create an employment portfolio,and How to dress and present yourself in an interview)
- College Awareness and Preparation Workshops (A-G Requirements, 4 Systems of Higher Education, How to pay for College/ University)
- Free Tax Preparation
- Free Food Baskets
- Free Clothing
